Category Tag in Your Job Feed

Updated over a week ago

When setting up your campaigns with Wonderkind, having the right job data isn’t just helpful—it’s essential. One of the most important fields in your job feed is the <category> tag, which plays a key role in targeting, segmentation, and performance optimization.

Here’s why this small detail makes a big impact:

📂 The Role of the <category> Tag

The category tag allows Wonderkind to identify the job family or function associated with a particular role. Whether it's Logistics, Administrative, Healthcare, or Retail, this classification helps the system understand what kind of job is being promoted—so it can create better ads and target the right people

⭐ Why It Matters

  • Smarter Segmentation
    Campaigns are often filtered by job category—especially when you want to create focused campaigns for specific sectors (e.g., Logistics jobs in Amsterdam). Without the category tag, segmentation becomes less precise.

  • Better Audience Matching
    Wonderkind uses the category tag to help match the job with the most relevant candidate profiles. For example, warehouse roles under “Logistics” are shown to blue-collar job seekers, while “Administrative” roles may be shown to office professionals.

  • More Relevant Creatives
    Role-specific ad creatives are generated based on job category. For instance, visual styles and tone may differ between Logistics and Admin roles to reflect the expectations of each audience.

✏️ How to Use It

Make sure every job in your XML feed includes the <category> tag. Here's what that looks like:

<job>
<title>Warehouse Worker</title>
<company>Speedy Logistics</company>
<location>Rotterdam</location>
<category>Logistics</category>
...
</job>

Choose clear, industry-standard labels (e.g., “Logistics”, “Administrative”, “Healthcare”, “IT”) to ensure accurate classification.

✅ Selecting the Category in the Wonderkind Platform

You can assign or edit the job category directly within the Wonderkind platform, particularly when tagging images or other assets in your Asset Library.

After selecting an image or video, simply:

  1. Click into the Category field.

  2. Type the name of the job category you want this asset to be associated with (e.g., Logistics, Administrative, Healthcare).

  3. Select the correct match from the dropdown or type the category here, ensuring the text exactly matches the category value in your XML feed.

📝 Important Tip:

The value you enter for category must match exactly what’s in your XML feed, including correct spelling, spacing, and full title (e.g., Customer Service not CustomerServ).

This ensures that the asset is correctly matched to your campaigns based on job category, and that it appears only where it’s relevant.

📌 Reminder: If no company, profile, or minor group tag is selected, the asset may be used more broadly. Always tag intentionally to keep your content targeted and relevant.
