From assets per profile to asset tagging

We get a lot of feedback from our customers on the fact the the asset library is hard to understand, and it requires a lot of manual work to fill all profiles to get the job list live. Additionally, while adding Google Display as an automated channel, we discovered that a new asset type is required - logo, so it was decided to implement a new solution for the entire asset library. The new tagging system increases automation and decreases the time required to add assets for all relevant profiles/minor groups, as well as lowers the onboarding time for new customers.

What is asset tagging?

The new solution mainly consists of the tagging functionality, where it is possible to assign multiple tags for profiles, minor groups, and channels (Google and Meta). This way, each asset can be easily attributed to multiple profiles and channels at once. It works the same way for all assets. Tags can also be edited, so users can add or remove them as necessary. The old functionality of first choosing a profile/minor group and then adding an asset is gone, however, all existing assets of partners automatically have tags of profiles/minor groups that they were in before.

ℹ️ Any asset modifications apply to all profiles that the asset is tagged with.

Images and videos

For these types of assets, the functionality is quite straightforward. When uploading an image or a video, the user now gets a pop-up, where tags can be assigned. For example, when tags for 5 minor groups are added, the asset is attributed to all 5 minor groups.

Bulk upload for images is available, but each image has to be tagged separately. Currently there is no functionality to apply the same tags for multiple images at once. Tags can also be edited in bulk, by selecting multiple assets.

ℹ️ At least one minor group or profile tag is required, as well as the channel tag.

Lead form

In the old asset library there was a functionality of copying the lead form to different profiles, now assigning tags for profiles or minor groups works with the same logic. The important aspect to know is the fact that when the lead form is edited, it is changed for all tagged profiles. It is the same lead form that is applied for multiple profiles. If the user wants to use a different lead form for a specific profile, a new one has to be created (or duplicated) and tagged with the profile. When a new lead form is added to a profile, that profile tag has to be removed from the old lead form, if applicable.

Ad copies

Ad copies function with the same logic as the lead form - when editing one copy, it will change for all assigned profiles.

Logo

Logos can only be tagged with a company name, so no profiles/minor groups or channels. The logos are only used for Google Display.

The user can tag a logo with a company name. This company name is not case sensitive so ‘Adidas’ is the same as ‘adidas’. The logo will be matched with the company name from the XML. So, when there is a job with the company name ‘Adidas’ in the XML, this logo will be used for the job.

ℹ️ When no tag is applied, the logo will be used for all companies. The user can perceive this as a default logo. They can have a default logo, and add additional logos per company.

Filter panel

New filter panel is now available in the asset library, which allows users to filter their assets based on various characteristics. It is filtering on the tags that the user applied to the assets. When filtering on “Company”, it has to be an exact match. When no filters are applied, the asset library shows all existing assets.
